Darryl has utilised his degrees and developed his skills in counselling with the Queensland TAFE, Personal Support Program (FACS / DEWR), Department of Health (QLD State), QuAC and other community development projects in teaching / project management. The areas covered are in drugs and alcohol, sexual health, relationships, youth, mentoring, mental health and community development.

He has been awarded with two major awards:
Queensland Police Service Awards for Excellence in Crime Prevention 2007.
Community Action network Awards 2007
and is nominated for the 2008 Australian Crime and Violence Prevention Awards.
